Brian A. Witkin is an award-winning entertainment attorney, music producer, label executive, and lifelong musician with over two decades of experience across the music and film industries. He is uniquely positioned to represent musicians, record labels, actors, film producers, creators and the like, offering clients the rare combination of legal expertise, creative insight, and industry connections. Born into a musical family—his father, Joe Witkin, performed at Woodstock with Sha Na Na—Brian’s roots in music run deep. 

As a touring artist and musician, Brian has both recorded and performed alongside acclaimed artists including ZZ Top’s Billy F. Gibbons and four-time GRAMMY®  winner  George Kahumoku Jr. He is the founder of the two-time Nā Hōkū Hanohano (Hawaiian GRAMMY®)-nominated group Slack Key ‘Ohana®, guitarist for the top ten charting reggae artist Kela Sako, and is an endorsed artist with Ovation Guitars.

This background gives him an edge when advising clients—particularly those navigating label deals, launching independent ventures, or structuring music and film projects.

His law practice serves a wide range of entertainment clients, including GRAMMY®-winning musicians, independent artists, publishers, labels, and media companies.

Brian holds a JD from San Francisco Law School and is a licensed attorney in California (Bar #328324). He also earned an MBA and a BA in History from National University. He serves on the Board of Governors for the Hawai’i Academy of Recording Arts, is a Voting Member of The Recording Academy, and is active in the American Bar Association’s Forum on the Entertainment & Sports Industry, the California Lawyers Association’s Intellectual Property Section, and the Beverly Hills Bar Association’s Entertainment Law Section.

Brian is a contributing writer for The Troubadour, where he authors the “Music and the Law” column, and outside of his work, he enjoys surfing, photography, and time with family.
